Why did the client want/need to undertake this project? The owner's had a finished basement, but were never happy with it and only used it for storage. They wanted to better utilize the space and bring it up-to-date so they could entertain friends and family.
Describe the solution to the client's need and how it was achieved during the planning stage, noting space/budget limitations. The clients liked our functional design and how we mixed natural and man-made materials. The custom built-ins around the existing fireplace created a nice focal point and the bench seats at the windows give dual function of seats and storage. Real stone and granite counter tops were used at the bar area and the elevated bar top supported by steel pillars gives the contemporary feel they wanted. Other features that make the area current are the stone back splash, wrought iron spindles, and square newel post. Detailed trim around the soffit matches the cabinetry and door color to create a cohesive look throughout the basement. To aid in entertaining guests a built-in wine refrigerator and beverage center were designed. The renovated office space with french doors open up to the daylight walk-out and the new guest bedroom is now bright and airy to match the rest of the basement.
